Michele Carnovale has been a resident of Woodbridge since 1988. Married to Maria for almost 30 years I have 3 children, Vincent, Adrienne, and Cassandra. All the children have attended the York Catholic School system over the past 20 years. I still have 1 child attending Father Bressani ( 2008 ). In 1994 I was elected to the York Roman Catholic School board for my first term. We had adopted a 32 million deficit and over the next 2 years ( 2 year term) we managed to get the deficit to nil and carried on under difficult budget restraints.

Since the early then I have represented the community with many different initiatives that benefit not only the community but also the board. Under my watch we have built many schools I would say we have doubled in size and allowed our communities to have schools in their neiighbourhoods. I have initiated many projects such as roughing in future needs in new schools (daycare requirements), new projects on maintaining our schools clean and safe and represented many of the constituents in the area with their needs. Our schools continue to need more attention as they get older and we are placing a program to give many of the schools a facelift as we go on. I have sat on many committees for the board including Safe Schools, Chaired the Labour Relations committee for the last 3 years. Trustee Liaison with the City of Vaughan, City of Vaughan Vandalism, Violence. Special education, and many more.

I remain committed to children in the board to bring forward the best programs that we can bring forward. Over the past many years we at York Catholic have surpassed the Provincial standard and have also been in the top 5 in the province in regards to the EQAO testing which makes our system extremely proud. We have initiated many programs such as physical education, science and music. I know that there is more to do and look forward to future endeavours for our system. I continuously challenge our senior staff to look beyond the forest, to think outside the box and to foresee not only for today but the future. Over the past 14 years I have been pleased to serve the Area 3 Ward 3 in Vaughan and with your support would like to continue to work with the community.
